Lent, Day 4
People who don't observe Lent are really missing out.
It's not about asceticism.
It's about removing that which distracts you.
It's about amazing epiphanies.

Lent, Day 3
Earthquakes. Oh shit.
Twice today I went to Facebook and logged in. COMPLETELY UNCONSCIOUSLY. I immediately closed the window and all I saw was that I had soooo many notifications waiting for me. Oh sweet notifications!
Damn you Facebook!
But I did spend a lot of time focusing on the Universe and its wellbeing, particularly Japan's.
And I got friends here now, so I'm out.

Lent, Day 2

Already easier. I have still found myself randomly typing in facebook.com on my computer but I stop myself before I hit enter.
Last night rather than spending an hour on the Face, I instead found a website of Rumi poetry. Much more interesting.
I wonder how many other people are giving up Facebook for Lent. Next year maybe I'll start a campaign.
Things I can do besides Facebook:
Jog
Read
Chant
Study Buddhism
Watch movies (I don't have the attention span to watch whole films anymore. I have to check my Facebook)
Clean house
Organize house
Write
Cook
Steal chickens.
Photography
Create a web series starring Aunt Judith and Harlequinn.
So be it.

Lent, Day 1
So I'm repeating last year's little fast from Facebook. I enjoyed it last year, and I got so much done. I remember I swore that when Lent was over last year, there was no way I would return to my old ways of checking my Facebook constantly. Yeah. Well I was wrong. In fact I think I may have gotten worse. I have an iPod Touch now! I can check Facebook at the busstop!
So, yeah, time to do it again. Unfortunately it's pretty much the only way I communicate with people anymore. I hate talking on the phone, and I don't have a cell so I don't text (although I can text on my iPod). No one really emails anymore. So I might get a little lonely. But that's life.
It's time to get creative with correspondence!
